Step 3: Now use the remaining digits of your patent number (for example, if the full number was 45982, you already used "45", so the rest is "982"). Insert "yy" in between those digits. That would produce "x98yy2" (where x is leftover or any filler). Perform a second search using that pattern, for example: "x98yy2 legal status".
